The library has been transformed by the renovation. It is not just more aesthetically pleasing, revealing the origins of the building, but also far more comfortable, with significantly more natural light and connection to the streetscape.
Comments
The building is on a small street in the middle of UND urban campus amidst a mixture of building types, many converted factories used as residential and educational facilities, in an educational precinct which also includes UTS.
• Renovation of university library in old warehouse, originally converted in 2005. Area 1235 sqm, Budget $1.2 million
• Works included demolition all internal walls, ceilings, some external walls. New roof and insulation over existing, new A/C, wall & floor finishes, New large windows to connect reconfigured interior to urban landscape. of internal spaces with increased transparency, new automated entry doors, new lighting, upgraded FF&E. Reuse shelving/ cut down. Demolition of some exterior walls and replacement with large windows.
