Situated in Belmont Hub, Ruth Faulkner Library was built as a multipurpose cross-generational flexible and adaptable space strategically designed to be co-located with the Belmont Museum; Seniors Hub; Café; and community service organisations. Low maintenance, polished concrete floors, high ceilings with exposed services and suspended acoustic ceiling panels feature throughout to create an industrial aesthetic. This reflects the City of Belmont’s unique historical mix of residential, light industrial and commercial land uses.
The project achieved the objectives of a digitally enabled, adaptable and accessible design offering:
• Dedicated rooms and flexible spaces for programs
• Quiet spaces and collaborative spaces for different levels of focus and engagement
• Spaces to enable learning, creativity and innovation
• Family friendly spaces; and an
• Opportunity to explore Belmont’s history
