Construction of a landmark, purpose-built, P-12 Library for Moreton Bay Boys’ College and its community, that is integrated and connected with established buildings and surrounding natural environment, is light-filled, easy to navigate through and enjoyable to be in.

Previously, our library occupied 1.5 classroom spaces that housed all classroom resources and collections – a cramped facility with barely enough room for one class to visit. Senior boys timetabled for Independent Study sessions were limited to a maximum of 8. We had outgrown our library space.
When planning for the new building, consideration was given to:

• resourcing and delivery of our Inquiry-based curriculum
• growth in class and group sizes
• collaborative learning spaces
• encouraging and sustaining a reading culture
• comfort and learning environment preferences for teaching boys aged from 5-18
• space to hold community gatherings such as meetings, events, exhibitions, our annual art show (Manifest)
• workshops, incursions
• Senior study area
• other staff departments (IT)
• ancillary services and other possible community needs.
