The vision for the school Library was to create a highly inspiring learning space for students, filled with wonderment and awe and that was totally dedicated to them.
Comments
This project was an internal refurbishment of an existing Library in the administration block without any structural changes needed. The Library is 168 square metres.
The vision for the school Library was to create a highly inspiring learning space for students, filled with wonderment and awe and that was totally dedicated to them. The mantra of ‘Reading Gives You Wings to Fly’ was the belief that we wished to express to all. To achieve this, key priorities emerged in consultation with the community. The environment would be warm, inviting and highly engaging. It would have different types of reading nooks for everyone and it would have as many books displayed with front covers showing as possible. Furniture would be minimal, age appropriate and arranged to create a natural flow.
The Monmia Library is now innovative, visually appealing, highly functional and has something special for everyone. The entire space has been transformed for student use and teacher resources have been removed from this designated student sanctuary.
