“They’ve managed to create an environment that feels like you’re among nature”
Comments
Situated on the old Marrickville Hospital site, Marrickville Library reuses a heritage building to create a place for Marrickville’s community to meet, work, learn and play.
The redeveloped site provides a purpose-built library and event space with 1,300m² of landscaped gardens. The original hospital building has been retained and embraced; its layout inspiring the new internal spaces. The new structure interprets the rhythms of the old, as the new building’s distinctive ‘zig zag’ roof echoes the old hospital’s form.
